We are eagerly awaiting the first copy of Shattered from Print Ninja. Once we get it in we will review it thoroughly for any printing defects. If everything checks out, Print Ninja will ship the rest of the order. 

We'll keep you guys posted but in the meantime, take a look at the proof sheet they sent us!

To Print (Again!)

Hey everyone!

Just a quick update to let everyone know that as of today, we are officially sent to print! There's not much else to say right now, but we're excited to have gotten this opportunity again and would like to thank everyone for their patience. Unless something comes up, we'll be radio silent until we get the first book for quality verification.

State of the Book June 2018 & V1.1.0

Hey everyone!  

We hope everyone who celebrates Memorial Day had a great weekend! This last month has blown by quickly and despite that we are quite a bit closer to the reprint. This update aims at explaining our timelines.

Version 1.1.0

Check your emails, Backerkit, and/or DriveThru RPG accounts because Version 1.1.0 is LIVE! This version corrects all the errata listed (submission form) as well as some additional text and graphics. This includes expanding passages to better fill white space), adding page art to reduce white space, redoing the creature layout, adding an additional Remnant, and refactoring how creatures are built with regards to Skills. Version 1.1.0 was our last hurdle before we send the PDF to the printer. As stated in the first sentence, everyone will receive the updated PDF: Backerkit, DrivethruRPG, and our webstore.

Printing

A version 1.1.0 begs the question of when are we sending it back to the printer. Well, you’ll be happy to know that we have placed the order with our new printer, Print Ninja, and have already reviewed the digital proof. We are currently awaiting a hard copy proof slated for delivery in 2 weeks. Once approved, it will take about 8-10 weeks for the books to arrive to our New York group. From there, it gets shipped out to you through USPS here in the US or Amazon for international shipping. 

We are incredibly fortunate to have the opportunity to take another shot at getting the right product in your hands. We are even more fortunate to have a community that stuck with us through this most recent challenge.

Campaign Book

The campaign book has progressed some since our last update. While Chapter 1 is still pending internal review, the 1st rough draft of Chapter 2 is still being worked on and has several additional gdocs pages than before, but our primary focus has been on updating the core book for reprint.

Status Update

Hey everyone,

The printing dispute process has been a complicated back-and-forth, but our first step was to try and rectify the issues directly with the printer. Based on samples they kept on-hand, they had refused to believe that the books were in unsellable condition. Furthermore, they asked us to go through each copy to verify that they were in fact as damaged as we claimed. The New York crew sifted through 420 (not on purpose) books or about ~42% of the order. None were fit for sale. To put it in perspective, of the 420 books, 392 of them had random ink splotches, 381 of them had ink peeling off the page from improper drying or lack of ink quality, 208 had incorrectly trimmed pages, 219 had binding issues, 328 had the pages misaligned (you could see the other page at the spine or it was crooked), and all of them had discoloration on certain pages. Now, this isn’t all of the errors. We had one book where the pages weren’t ordered correctly, going from page 19 to 27 and then back again. All in all, we are extremely disappointed. After going through the books that we did, we asked the printer for a reprint and that they pay to ship it to us. They maintained that they were not at fault and with that we filed a dispute with Alibaba, who we are now working with to rectify the issue. As of Monday night (3/26) we have provided all of our documentation and pictures of the books along with our correspondence with the printer for their review. We will post another update with new developments as they happen.

Errata

In spite of the situation with the books, we have resolved to find a silver lining in the situation. We are using the current errata list (submission form) to update areas of the book we goofed up on and have been working with a number of you to help clarify ambiguous rules.. If you find anything please report it to the link in the previous sentence! When we go for a reprint, we intend to print a new version of the book with the errors fixed. We are also taking time to add in a few new things about the world, and at the moment we will leave that as a surprise. Once this situation with the books has been resolved and we start the eventual reprint, we will also release an updated PDF. If you’re going to a convention in the coming months and wish to take a PDF copy of Shattered to run a game, please contact us here or on our Discord server if you want to take the preview build.

Campaign Book

As you can imagine, our work on the campaign book has been postponed a bit. We’re still in a good place for Chapter 1 and still hope to release it soon. However, errata and negotiations with the printer and Alibaba are taking priority at this point. We definitely hope to have this in PDF form to you before con season comes into full swing.
