Latest Updates from Our Project:

Backer Rewards Away!
over 8 years ago – Fri, Sep 18, 2015 at 03:47:45 PM

Hello Everyone!

We have some exciting news to share with you all today! The bulk of your backer rewards were shipped to Amazon yesterday, September 17th, 2015. This means Amazon will be fulfilling the shipment orders. Your T-Shirts, Posters, Art Prints and Collector Cards are being shipped to all corners of the globe!

Since some of these items were add-ons, we will begin processing any outstanding balances on backerkit in the next few days. If you have any questions about your order, please feel free to contact us at [email protected]

We would also like to take a second to thank the backers picked up the Charity Add-On for the Child's Play Charity. Your rewards are on their way as well.

Here's a picture of the boxes before we sent them out. :)

Unfortunately, the dice are not included in this shipment. As we’ve mentioned in previous updates, our art director, Derek, had been working with our intended manufacturer to meet their design guidelines. He went through 5 revisions with them, all falling short of their requirements. The 6th revision was sent, and we have yet to hear back. All that said, we are going to begin searching for a new manufacturer.

And this is where we find ourselves today. We will have the custom dice made and shipped to those of you who ordered them, as promised. However, we need to secure a new manufacturer before production can begin. We will keep you in the loop, and as always we welcome your suggestions and we thank you for your patience.

Artwork

we have another piece of artwork to show you as well. An action shot from Daniel Kamarudin. The piece is showing off one of the minor groups in the world of Shattered, the gravekeepers. They are a mysterious order of Necromancers who fend off tidal waves of undead when they threaten the safety of small settlements and trade caravans. We absolutely love the piece and we hope you do as well.

 Love-Crafter and Neuromancer Tiers

Tex and Pul have been hard at work on the monster and NPC submissions for the two tiers. Tex has completed the first pass on editing and expanding the Love-Crafter monster descriptions and Pul is working on bringing each monster up to par on their stats and abilities. As for the NPCs, Tex hopes to finish integrating the descriptions and backgrounds by next week and send out the revisions for approval. Don’t fear, you may not have heard back from us in a while, but we have by no means glossed over these!

That just about wraps up today’s update. As rewards are shipped out from Amazon, we will keep each of you posted on the progress and whereabouts of your items. If you have changed addresses in the last few months, we ask that you let us know (if you haven’t already) so that we can make sure your reward gets to you.

Thanks as always for your support,

THE INDE TEAM

8th Race & Backer Rewards
almost 9 years ago – Thu, Aug 13, 2015 at 01:52:44 PM

Hello again everyone!

It has been a busy few weeks for us and we have a lot to cover, so let’s get started!

Backer Rewards

To avoid additional charges from Amazon for storage space, we held off on sending the art prints and collector cards until the t-shirts and posters are ready to be shipped as well. With the art for the 8th race now completed, we have ordered the t-shirts and posters and expect to receive them within the next 7 to 10 business days. Once we receive them we will ship it all out to Amazon for fulfillment.

Backerkit

On that note, we still have a little more than 30 of you who have yet to fill out your backer surveys. We’ll be reaching out to each of you via email and Kickstarter to try and get you squared away.

And now for the big reveal...

Together with one of our backers, we have created The Florvana

Roughly 50 years after the discovery of the Shade, deep within the vast freshwater caverns beneath Lokoran, sentient life emerged. Spawned from fungal spore colonies beneath the city, these creatures ventured out to examine the state of their world. They were greeted with a lavish city teeming with the business of concentrated life. When they emerged, many of Lokoran’s citizens panicked, thinking monsters had infested the city. When they were met with peaceful, friendly words most witnesses could only muster a stunned silence. The Florvana instantly proved themselves welcome guests in the city, tending to the ill, treating the maimed, and cultivating the flora. Beyond Lokoran, however, they were horror-struck at the sight of the Wastelands. Thus began their crusade to restore the planet to its former glory.

Each Florvana is a cluster of sentient fungal colonies, the collective efforts of which comprise a type of hivemind. Somewhere within their form is the Heart, which is the home of their memory. It is shielded by a thicker compound called ironbark, and is capable of growing a new body should it ever be separated from its original colony.

Florvana colonies’ forms are as varied as the other Feneryans; in fact, Florvana actively attempt to mimic the shapes of the other races during development. Some strive to emulate every feature verbatim, substituting eyes with mushroom caps or growing thick moss and lichen to replicate facial hair. Others are more minimalist, imitating their shape, but lacking the particulars. Due to the difficulty of directing specific growth within the colony, all Florvana tend to have irregular proportions or exaggerated physical features, sometimes comically so.

Combat is something most Florvana strive to avoid. They would much rather heal than harm, but they won’t shy away from defending the defenseless --extending to local flora and fauna-- or fighting for a just cause. As part of their goal to rejuvenate the world they work tirelessly to cultivate new floral growth and maintain what precious little already exists.

The Florvana love of life and experience lead many to be medics, Marshals, and explorers. The stereotypical Florvana is a wanderer, sowing seeds, helping the needy, and pursuing the good things in life. But others have, to turn a phrase, taken root in cities and towns to help others via professions that provide a service-- merchants, trappers, and mediators, to name a few popular options. They are never craftsmen; they abhor those that work wood and steel and accuse them of destroying and mutilating Feneryss.

Their sensitivity to the state of their world has led Florvana to despise the Drones for their artificial forms. Contrarily, they generally hold the Shade in higher esteem for their simple lifestyle, living quietly off the land-- a few distasteful tools are easily ignored. Rekindled have found a special place in their ironbark hearts, and many feel great pity for their loss. It is easy to find Florvana going out of their way to help a Rekindled find peace and come to terms with their second life. They are also eager to aid the Vampires, but lacking blood makes them poor donors for the fanged folk.

The other races are met with mixed feelings: on one hand, their ancestors destroyed the world, and the descendants are doing surprisingly little to rectify the situation. On the other hand, it is a commonly held belief that the magic of the Reckoning is what fueled their rapid ascendancy to sentience, and that they therefore should be grateful. Many Florvana take this as a sign of providence, that they were meant to exist on Feneryss here and now to propagate its renewal.

Neuromancer & Love-Crafter Backers

We have been working with a number of our Love-Crafters to get their monsters finalized and now that we have the Florvana revealed, we will be reaching out to the Neuromancers as well. Expect to see an email from us with a link to a google form designed to collect some of the basic information and ideas that you have for your characters.

Thanks again for your patience and cooporation,

Backer Rewards and Art Updates
almost 9 years ago – Tue, Jun 30, 2015 at 08:23:45 PM

Hello Everyone!

It has been a little bit since we posted an update and we have a lot to go over. So let’s get started!

Backer Rewards

Official Playtest: We are currently in the process of preparing the Official Playtest for you guys. Many of you have been exploring the alpha playtest that we released shortly after our campaign launched. Your feedback has been much appreciated and has been extremely helpful from a development perspective. We have altered and re-written systems to address many of the issues that you have found and the Official Playtest will be the culmination of your hard work.

We have been working hard to bring you a richer and more aesthetically pleasing version of the playtest. Not only will it be an updated snapshot of the Alpha playtest, but it also give you guys an idea of what the Core Book is going to look like when it is released in June 2016. As usual, we welcome any ideas or suggestions that you have.

We anticipate this reward being done and in your hands (digitally) by mid-August.

Dice: The dice have been really tricky, and unfortunately they are currently behind schedule. This is due largely in part to conversations with our manufacturer, Q-Workshop, as we have been going back and forth to create the optimal design for the dice. We are hopeful that our latest design will satisfy their requirements and will allow us to get production started. We apologize for the delay, but will keep you updated on the production and shipping status as new information is available.

T-Shirts: Our shirt designs are ready to go and we expect to place the order this week. Everyone who ordered one will be getting their tracking information sent to them as soon as they ship.

Collector Cards: The card designs are completed as well and, like the t-shirts, we’ll be placing the order this week.

Posters: The base design is ready to go, but we are trying to get the 8th race completed in time to get that respective art on the poster too. If we are unable to get the art for the 8th race in time, then we have one of two options: either we ship the poster with the seven original races or we wait until the art for the 8th race comes in. We would definitely love to hear your thoughts on this.

*Note* Not representative of final poster design.

Art Prints: Ready to go, orders will be placed this week.

Art Update

As you know, our main goals in raising funds through Kickstarter is to create a book that includes a plethora of art, allowing players to really delve into the world of Shattered. Since our last update we have received a lot of fantastic artwork! To start off, we had a party of characters created by the talented Daniel Kamarudin. These characters will be the face of the game and you will see them recur throughout the core book and beyond.

Lorelei-Vur Orikasa: Vampire Martial Artist (Below)

Rache: Wretched Gunslinger Arkänist (Below)

 Risk: Rekindled Thief (Below)

Terrosh: Alypse Marshal of Love (Below)

Next on the list, we worked with an esteemed Shattered alumni, Giorgio Grecu, to help us realize the underground settlement, Sylvan Hollow.

Last but certainly not least, we have worked with the talented Rhys Griffiths to give us an up close and living perspective of one of our favorite starting locations in Shattered, The Grey Shade Tavern

Hopefully you have enjoyed this great new look into the world of Shattered through the amazing pieces created by these artists. We know you are looking forward to receiving your backer rewards and we will keep you updated with any relevant new information or changes as we move forward. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns, or if you have any additional thoughts on the game systems.

Thanks,

The INDE Team
